Very cool to see Dennis take shots from this. But the dialog/editing/acting suffers in this version.
Miniatures and production design are fun. But straight up goofy line readings on some of this. Sooo much whispering. Harkonnen’s are gross in a way they are not in new Dune. They are soo gross in this version they don’t feel as menacing. Dem eyebrows cracking me up. I saw this once in high school and I must have fallen asleep cause I don’t remember any of it.
Not subtle, the floating lights have “wings”. Everyone voice overs what they are thinking.People describing what we are seeing. The weirdness of it is nice to see. Feels like some of this predicted the internet fetish of ASMR (whispering in the mic) and extraction stuff with the pimple grossness.
Lynch focuses as some parts like the details of how the tooth thing works for so long.
Wizard of Oz look and feel sometimes.
The sound weapon must have bern Lynched idea. It seems to be given unnecessary story time. Why do they need them? They have the worms.
The rope climbing on the worm feels like Adam West Batman. Capped off by Trans Siberian Orchestra.
